讲座摘要:

Lithium niobate (LN), first synthesized 70 years ago, has been widely used in diverse applications in optical and microwave technologies, ranging from communications to quantum optics. LN is a promising material platform for integrated photonics, and some integrated LN optical devices, such as optical modulators and nonlinear wavelength converters, have already outperformed their legacy counterparts implemented in bulk LN crystals. The successes of manufacturing wafer-scale, high-quality thin films of LN-on-insulator (LNOI) and breakthroughs in nanofabrication techniques have made high-performance integrated nanophotonic components possible. LNOI devices boost the performance of LiNbO3’s traditional applications in optical communications and data center, integrated microwave photonics, and quantum optics and open up novel applications in metrology, including ranging system and frequency comb spectroscopy. The lectures introduce the participants to integrated lithium niobate photonics. The series of interesting topics include LN-based optical waveguides, LN-based broadband electro-optic modulators, applications of lithium niobate modulators, LN-based platform of quantum photonics, and thin-film LN technology. Beyond this outlook, we will discuss the challenges in integrated LN photonics and the potential solutions.

 

 

主讲人简介:Aleksandr Shamrai教授现任俄罗斯圣光机大学教授、约飞研究所首席研究员、量子电子学实验室主任。2002年获约飞研究所固体物理学博士学位,2010年获无线电物理科学博士学位。长期从事光折变晶体全息存储与可调器件、铌酸锂集成光子器件以及高精度测量、微波与量子光子学领域先进应用技术,研究成果获俄罗斯科学院青年科学家奖和教育科学部科技发展突出贡献奖等。出版著作2部,获发明专利7项,发表期刊文50余篇,会议报告论文100余篇。
